Apparently I like to shout “woooooo” on camera
Two weeks my friends.
Wow wow wow! I appreciate all the support I’ve been getting! Thank you!
I am officially in the green and have been for days! Last night I reached 99! As a reminder, on June 15th, it was 288. That at the very least feeeels like a rapid drop.
So how am I feeling? My body feels great! I have started daily Michael Scott style walkabouts. I decided to try and make the walks feel fun. I listen to my favorite music, take photos and videos, and share it with the world. There is something to be said about taking a moment to really appreciate the beauty of your hometown up close. Sure, I’ve driven around a lot of these places hundreds of times… but had I stopped to smell the roses? Certainly not. So far, my shortest walk was a mile and a half, the longest 3. It’s be greaaat to observe the world, see all happy faces and just being in the world.
The reason why I chose walking instead of the gym right away is because my leg is still in the process of healing. Any of you who know me personally probably know I am unexplainably clumsy. TLDR: 51 stitches the day after the insurrection, fell on glass that I had broken myself. It’s fiiiine
Posting it to my social media sort of feels like accountability to my friends and family that I don’t talk to every day. As my favorite empathy expert says:
“Shame corrodes the very part of us that believes we are capable of change.”
and
“Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.”
and
“Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness.”
So I feel like so far I am crushing it! I have more energy for chores, walks, cooking. Been trying to get more recipes going as a request from Stacey (I was pumped thank you so much) but the only time I had something new my phone died. It was cauliflower mashed with my regular chopped mix of cherry peppers, onions, mushrooms and garlic, mixed with a little hand grated sharp cheddar. This was paired with Italian style chicken, pita chips, a pickle and some cherries for dessert. See? Totally not starving myself. And again, blood sugar is at 99!
Still adjusting mentally (trying to tame the Sam bear). I joke with my coworkers that maybe I’ve been so nice all this time because of the sugar. Oh boy I’m trying! It’ll take time but I will get there.
I saw my sibling and their wife over the weekend for the first time at their new house and it’s beautiful! They work in the mental health field and one of the first thing they asked was: “So, how are your emotions with the blood sugar drop?”
CLINGING TO POSITIVITY LIKE A MF.
Those who see me on the daily have been great. They’ve been totally understanding and given me tips and encouragement! I’m in a good place.
So yeah! Have any food requests or recipes you want me to try? Let me know!
I hope you are all doing well!
Sam
